Parking Receipt Template
A parking receipt records what was paid to park: the car park or operator name, the location, entry and exit times, the duration, the rate and the total. Drivers claiming it back also need the date and the vehicle registration. You can make one free below with no signup.

Parking is claimed more often than almost any small expense and evidenced worse than any of them, because the machine slip is thermal paper the size of a train ticket and it lives in a coat pocket until it is illegible.
What goes on a parking receipt
- Operator or car park name, and the site address
- Ticket, transaction or session number
- Date, entry time and exit time
- Total duration, since some tariffs round to the part hour
- Tariff applied: hourly, daily, evening or event rate
- Vehicle registration where the site records it
- Bay or level, if the site is large enough to need one
- Amount, tax if shown separately, and payment method
A day in a car park
City centre multi-storey, 14 May. Entry 09:12, exit 15:48, duration 6 hours 36 minutes, charged as 7 hours at the $3.20 hourly tariff. Subtotal $22.40, tax at 8 percent $1.79, total $24.19 paid by card ending 5580. Ticket 0294187, vehicle KTR 8842.
Those two timestamps are the difference between a claimable expense and a number on a card statement. A total with no duration behind it does not show whether the parking related to a two hour client meeting or a full day out.
Parking receipts and expense claims
Most employers reimburse parking at cost and treat it separately from mileage, so you can usually claim both for the same journey. What they will not usually accept is a bank line reading a car park name with no document behind it. If you park regularly at the same site on a season ticket or monthly permit, one receipt covering the period is cleaner than trying to evidence individual days.

Frequently asked questions
Can I claim parking as a business expense?
Usually yes, when the trip itself was for business. Parking is normally reimbursed at actual cost and kept separate from a mileage rate, so claiming both for the same journey is generally allowed.
What if the parking machine did not print a receipt?
Many operators can reissue one from the transaction record, and app based parking sends an email. Reconstructing a receipt from your own record is acceptable to most employers as long as the date, site and amount match your card statement.
Should a parking receipt show the entry and exit time?
It should. Duration connects the charge to the reason for the trip. Claims that show a total and nothing else get queried more than any other kind.
